Locum Pharmacist

Role description

As a Locum Pharmacist you will be employed by an agency on a contractual basis rather than as a permanent full-time salaried employee.

Many Pharmacists find this a flexible way to work as they can pick which jobs to take, choose the hours and days they work and experience working in a variety of different locations and environments. You will need to be registered with the GPhC and have practical experience of the quality assurance and physical checking requirements associated with prescription medicines.

Key responsibilities

  • Physical checking and reviewing prescriptions
  • Preparing, packaging, labelling and dispensing prescriptions
  • Quality Assurance release of compounded products according to GPhC standards
  • Advising and providing information to customers about their medications
  • Maintaining stock, scheduling deliveries and keeping records
  • Complying with legal requirements and regulations

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified Pharmacist registered with the GPhC and with a valid GPhC number.
  • Ideally, have a minimum of 6 months experience working in a dispensary setting
  • Fully maintained CPD records
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Enhanced DBS (England + Wales). OR PVG (Scotland) certificate
