Main Duties, Responsibilities and Characteristics:
The following apply either across all workstreams within smaller Section 10 units (e.g. combined anti-cancer therapy and CIVAS services), or to a specific workstream within larger Section 10 units or licensed services (e.g. parenteral nutrition only).*1
Cleanroom and Production Supervision
- Provide strategic oversight of all contractual arrangements, including service level agreements (SLAs) and technical agreements (TAs), ensuring alignment with organisational and regulatory requirements
Training and Staff Management
- Deliver advanced training and education as a subject matter expert to peers, senior colleagues, and multidisciplinary stakeholders
Compliance and Quality Management
- Ensure the delivery of a safe, effective, and high-quality service, including prioritising activity during periods of constraint and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to optimise productivity
- Support the strategic oversight and continuous development of the Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS or ePQS), including review and approval of data trends and critical documentation
- Act as a senior point of contact for regulatory bodies (e.g. MHRA), overseeing responses to inspections, complaints, errors, and incidents, including the implementation of appropriate corrective and preventative actions (CAPA)

Project Management and Improvement Initiatives
- Hold accountability for service delivery and operational management across all Pharmacy Technical Services
- Lead governance and strategic planning across the full-service portfolio
- Review and approve business cases for service development, expansion, and investment
- Oversee the monitoring and review of capacity and contingency plans
- Provide strategic oversight of service development and improvement initiatives, including the introduction of new equipment, technologies, and processes
- Lead on the development, review, and refinement of key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Lead and support research and innovation activities within the department and across the wider organisation
- Represent the service at organisational, regional, and national level as a senior stakeholder
