Aseptic Services Technician, West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

Purple pointer
Building a rewarding career through precision, resilience and patient-focused pharmaceutical care.

My journey into Technical Services wasn't straightforward. After completing a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Science with Industrial Practice and working as a pharmacist overseas, I moved to the UK and joined the NHS as an aseptic services assistant. This gave me invaluable hands-on experience in aseptic manufacturing and allowed me to develop my knowledge of sterile preparation while gaining practical experience in a highly specialised environment.

Through hard work, continuous learning and determination, I progressed into my current role as a Production Technician. Every day, I work with colleagues who share the same commitment to quality, precision and patient safety. Preparing medicines requires attention to detail and following strict procedures to ensure every product meets the highest standards before it reaches a patient.

The most rewarding part of my job is knowing that the medicines I prepare can make a real difference to people's lives. Although I may never meet the patients receiving these treatments, I know that every product contributes to their care and supports their treatment journey. That sense of purpose motivates me every day.

I chose a career in Technical Services because it combines pharmaceutical science with patient impact. My experience has shown me that there are many different routes into the profession, and with resilience, curiosity and a willingness to keep learning, it is possible to build a fulfilling and meaningful career.
