As a Specialist Pharmacy Technician in Aseptic Services, I work closely with the Accountable Pharmacist, Technical Services Lead Technician and Principal Technician to help maintain and continuously develop our service. Collaboration is central to my role, whether I'm preparing for external inspections, monitoring internal compliance audits or contributing to quality meetings where we review findings and identify opportunities to improve how we work.

A large part of my role focuses on education and workforce development. I act as an Educational Supervisor for colleagues completing qualifications such as Buttercups Level 2, the Scientific Manufacturing Process Operative (SMPO), Scientific Manufacturing Technician (SMT) and Pharmacy Technician Practice programmes. This involves working with external training providers, creating learning opportunities, carrying out workplace assessments and supporting staff throughout their development.

I also oversee competency progression across the team, helping to ensure colleagues continue to build their knowledge and maintain the high standards required to work safely within aseptic services. Alongside this, I support senior technicians with day-to-day leadership responsibilities, working closely with Cleanroom Supervisors and the wider team to ensure the service operates efficiently.

My technical responsibilities include carrying out pre-production and in-process quality checks, and I have recently completed the Product Approval Accreditation Programme, enabling me to release finished products for patient use.

What I enjoy most about my role is helping both people and services develop. Whether I'm supporting a colleague's learning or contributing to improvements in quality and compliance, I know that every aspect of my work ultimately helps ensure patients receive safe, high-quality medicines.
