I work as a Quality Assurance Regulatory Compliance Officer, supporting the Pharmacy Quality System (PQS) across Technical Services within my Trust. My role spans both licensed manufacturing and Section 10 aseptic preparation, helping ensure our quality systems support safe, compliant and effective medicine production.

My career began as a Pharmacy Technician. I later joined aseptic services, where I developed a strong interest in quality assurance. Completing the Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA) Diploma gave me a deeper understanding of quality systems and inspired me to specialise in this area.

Today, I help colleagues across Technical Services understand and apply the requirements of the Pharmaceutical Quality System in their everyday work. This includes supporting risk assessments, investigations, governance processes and regulatory compliance through the effective use of our electronic quality management system. I work closely with teams to ensure quality activities are completed in a timely, risk-based and fully traceable way, helping departments remain inspection-ready while promoting continuous improvement.

One aspect of my role that I particularly enjoy is using quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Although I do not have a formal IT background, I have developed expertise in using quality information to produce meaningful reports, monitor key performance indicators and support informed decision-making across the service.

Although I rarely meet patients, patient safety underpins everything I do. By helping maintain a strong quality culture and effective governance systems, I know my work contributes to ensuring medicines are prepared safely and to the highest possible standards.
