Associate Chief Pharmacist- Head of Aseptic Services, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Purple pointer
Inspiring excellence in aseptic services through leadership, quality and innovation.

I lead Aseptic Services at King's College Hospital across three units on two sites, supporting both a large teaching hospital and a district general hospital. Our service prepares chemotherapy, immunotherapy, parenteral nutrition and clinical trial medicines, and we are now preparing for the introduction of gene therapies. It has been incredibly rewarding to help grow the service through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, expand into new facilities and support the introduction of innovative treatments.

The part of my role I value most is our people. Together we have built an inclusive team culture where everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas, raise concerns and help shape the future of the service. I am particularly proud of the quality culture we have developed, where openness, excellence and teamwork underpin everything we do for our patients and colleagues.

I chose a career in Aseptic Services after discovering during my pre-registration year that my strengths lay in being methodical, organised and process-driven. Although patients may never meet the teams preparing their medicines, I know our work directly supports them during some of the most challenging periods of their lives by ensuring every preparation is safe, effective and of the highest quality.

Alongside leading our local service, I contribute to the future of Technical Services nationally. Through the Aseptic Services Transformation Group and the development of QAAPS Version 6, I have had the opportunity to help shape future standards, workforce development and the sustainability of aseptic services across the NHS.

Looking ahead, I am passionate about future-proofing our services. Whether through innovation, workforce development or environmental sustainability, I believe we have a responsibility to continually improve our services for the benefit of both our patients and the planet.
