Working as an Advanced Aseptic Services Specialist allows me to combine technical expertise with innovation to improve the safety, quality and efficiency of aseptic services. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is introducing new technologies and digital solutions that strengthen patient safety while ensuring we continue to meet the high standards required by Good Manufacturing Practice.

My career began in community pharmacy, where I completed the qualifications needed to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. After qualifying, I moved into hospital pharmacy and discovered aseptic services- a highly specialised area where I could contribute directly to the preparation of life-saving medicines. Through continuous professional development, practical experience and taking on increasingly complex responsibilities, I progressed into my current advanced specialist role.

Today, I work with multidisciplinary teams to plan, implement and validate new technologies, from automated compounding systems to digital solutions that improve traceability, reduce manual processes and minimise the risk of error. Successfully introducing innovation requires careful planning, risk assessment, validation and staff training to ensure every change is implemented safely and effectively.

I particularly enjoy solving complex problems and finding new ways to improve services. Seeing an idea develop from concept to routine practice is incredibly rewarding, especially when it increases capacity, enhances patient safety and helps more patients access specialist treatments.
